Lyon streamroll their way through the summer transfer window

In a sharp departure from previous years, Lyon have been very efficient in the early part of this transfer window, with multiple signings for the men’s and women’s teams completed within just the first 3 weeks.

This level of productivity is unheard of – I’m used to Lyon dragging their heels all summer, with other clubs pulling their hair out, several Twitter tantrums from Aulas, and at least one Lyon player threatening to boycott training. Someone also usually ends up in therapy. That’s always been the Lyon way.

Everyone’s new favorite boy band: Thiago and the Dream Team

Award-Deserving Anthony Lopes (And the Defense He Has to Thank for It)

Lyon currently sits third in Ligue 1, just one point ahead of Saint-Étienne. That point could be the bare minimum to stay ahead of the local rivals as Lyon is behind in goal difference. The culprit: Lyon has the tenth-worst defense in Ligue 1. Paradoxically, Anthony Lopes is nominated to win the UNFP Best Goalkeeper award, and he would be a deserving winner.

The Citizen Revolution: Lyon vs Manchester City Preview

It’s no secret. France is England’s favorite hunting ground. From Alexandre Lacazette to Rachid Ghezzal, many players have given in to the temptation and crossed the English Channel. It’s just so easy – you can wrap Clinton Njie in a ribbon and call him the new Samuel Eto’o, and they just snap him up.

But this time, Manchester City do not come hunting for players. The Citizens are coming for all three points.

The (Other) Olympico: Lyon vs Nîmes Olympique Preview

For years, Nîmes Olympique has been angling for a seat at the big table. Now that they have it, they are struggling to retain it, but the third Olympique in Ligue 1 has shown it can stand up to giants.

Nîmes experienced a strong start to the Ligue 1 season, including a 3-1 victory over Olympique Marseille. Since then, Nîmes’ progress has stalled, and after a winless run, they are flirting with relegation.

And that sounds like a problem that Olympique Lyonnais could fix.
