A really pessimistic preview of Strasbourg vs Lyon

It’s statistically proven that right before and after Champions League matches (and often times, during), Lyon forget how to play football. We’re so used to seeing it that when they do play well, we don’t recognize them.

Seriously, whoever played Toulouse last weekend should be reported for stealing Lyon jerseys.

It’s lucky for Strasbourg, who won the Ligue 1 lottery by getting to play Lyon right before their match against Barcelona match. The Alsatians already knocked them out of the Coupe de la Ligue, so taking 3 points won’t seem like a big deal to them.

Time to face their demons: Lyon vs. Reims preview

Tomorrow, Lyon will face their most challenging enemy to date: Stade de Reims.

Reims set the tone for the year when, in the second game of this season, they imposed Lyon’s first defeat. It was a rather prophetic moment that heralded two things – Lyon’s inability to chain matches, as well as their propensity to drop points against smaller clubs.

Thierry’s coming to town: Lyon vs. Monaco Preview

I wish I could be excited about this match. Playing the 19th worst team in the league, one with a myriad of injury and morale problems…it’s a dream come true. An easy 3 points, right?

Wrong.

Lyon’s greatest skill is their ability to sympathy struggle. Teams in the worst form of their life arrive at Parc OL and then revive their flagging campaigns. Just ask Nice. Or Nantes. Or Rennes.

They should rebrand Groupama Stadium as Groupama Spa. The possibilities for EBITDA are endless.

Breton Homecoming: Lyon vs Rennes Preview

Wednesday-night football is back, but not accompanied by a dramatic hymn. Instead, the race for the podium resumes as Lyon welcomes Rennes for the 16th Ligue 1 matchday.

This time, there won’t be just 11 Lyonnais on the pitch at the Groupama Stadium. A Rennes side in turmoil visits from the North with a slew of ex-Lyon players like White Walkers trying to reclaim their old home.

A New Olympique For Jordan Ferri

It was announced yesterday that Lyon academy graduate Jordan Ferri has left on loan to join Nîmes Olympique. While not a fresh face out of the academy, he has only known Olympique Lyonnais as a professional player. It’s a new chapter for Jordan Ferri in a career that has never reached the heights of other famous OL graduates.
